A Class Divided on PBS
Up to this day one of my favorite program is Frontline on PBS. I watched the program below only a couple of years ago even though it has been around for much longer. If there is one reason why I think the internet is such a great place, it is because all of us can research archives and find programs from around the world that has strong messages that we can and should all learn from.
This peace, “A Class Divided”, was first broadcast in 1985 on PBS, trailing Jane Elliott, an elementary teacher from a small town in Iowa, and her third grade class dealing with Martin Luther King Jr.’s murder in April 1968. The day after the assassination Jane changed her class plan and came up with a two day exercise that astonished both her students and the other teachers. By 1970 cameras started recording her class, showing Jane’s simple but all the more powerful message to all of us. By watching this program you too will learn a tremendous amount about yourself and about our environment.
